A Tarrant County district judge on Tuesday handed down a life sentence for a woman who worked with the architect of a fraud scheme that drained millions of dollars from senior citizens.
The sentence comes after a jury found Debra Mae Carter guilty of money laundering earlier this month. The 65-year-old conspired with William Neil “Doc” Gallagher, an unlicensed financial adviser who promoted his business on Christian radio as the self-anointed “Money Doctor.” In November 2021, a judge sentenced Gallagher to three life terms for defrauding more than 190 listeners of at least $23 million.
