Dallas officials investigating man’s death that was ruled a homicide

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man’s death earlier this month in an east Oak Cliff residence.

David Bernard Hawkins, 53, died June 11 in the 2000 block of High Hill Boulevard, between Hutchins and South Corinth roads, according to Dallas County Medical Examiner records. Though Hawkins’ manner of death was ruled a homicide, the cause of death is pending the results of a toxicology report, according to the medical examiner’s office. Those reports typically to take weeks to process.

A Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson said Wednesday the department responded to a report of an unconscious person June 11 at the High Hill Boulevard address and medics performed CPR on the person until he was pronounced dead. The department notified Dallas police of the death, which is standard procedure.
